Bristol biker wins unique £10,000 motorcycle in national competition

Lee Oakley of Yate, Bristol took time away from his day job as a self-employed electrician recently to receive a stunning machine valued at £10,000 as first prize in a national competition organised by Japanese motorcycle manufacturer, Kawasaki.

Presenting the machine - a special one-off 25thAnniversary ZX-6R - to 45 year old Lee, were Manager of Bristol Kawasaki, Steve Hodder and Michael Johnstone, Sales and Marketing Manager for Kawasaki Motors UK.

“This is going to sound corny, but I have never won anything before”, said Lee. “I am stunned, the bike looked great on competition web site, but in the flesh it’s magnificent!”

Entering the free prize draw for the 600cc Supersport machine after dropping in at the Avon St dealership during a Sunday ride out with his mates, Lee was intrigued by the comments from both his business partner and neighbour who had a feeling that he would be successful.

“It’s strange; both of them said they thought I would win. I am not superstitious, but as soon as they said I would win even I had a weird feeling that something good might happen. When I was told I was the winner my legs suddenly went funny and my mouth went dry.”

As happy as Lee was at receive the machine valued at over £10,000, the Manager of Bristol Kawasaki seemed even happier.

“We’ve got a family of great customers and I am proud to say Lee is one of them”, explained Steve Hodder. “He is a real motorcycle fan and has bought several machines from us in the past. I couldn’t think of a better person to win – especially during the 25th Anniversary year of the Ninja”.
